Four-time Tour of Champions winner Esteban Toledo delivers an easy fix to improve your drives, leading to fairer and farther results.
GOLF
I am not longest hitter off the teebut I’m still able to consistently rip it about 250 yards or so. However, something more than that? There’s a good chance my sequence is all off, I get into bad body positions and then find myself overswinging, looking at my ball sail ORDER right for a massive slice.
This is probably a common mistake you make, too, assuming you are a medium or higher handicapper.
Of course, the main culprit is an open confrontation, but it’s likely because yours the swing is coming over the top — means the clubhead moves too far ahead of the ball as you pass through impact.
While every golfer often wonders how to fix a putt at some point, many times there are many moves involved, and not just one easy solution.
But not today, because Esteban Toledo of PGA Tour Champions is here to share a fix that could lead to fewer putts and longer drives. Check out his simple advice below.
Esteban Toledo helps cure your frustrating part
In the video above, Toledo begins by highlighting “one of the biggest mistakes” amateur golfers make — which is the aforementioned swing path.
“They do the backhand (or takeover) pretty well, but then they get to the top,” he says. “That means they move the right hip (for a right-handed golfer) to the right, instead of (staying behind the clubhead and more toward the inside of the ball).
After hitting an incorrectly shaped disc – which produces a part – Toledo dives into a simple fix that you can use now to fix your shots.
“Instead of going to the top, I will bring (the club) from within,” he says. “It’s like carrying a tray, where you stand on top and bring the arm (track) very close to your body.”
By naturally keeping the track arm to stay close to your middle, you will allow the clubhead to drop and maintain the proper swing path, leading to more contact with the center face.
While you may not be ready for incorporate even more swing speedsimply by making better contact that isn’t off the toe or heel, you’ll create longer distances that are much fairer.
