For Marco Penge, what a change has been made for a year.
On Sunday, the pledge held some challenging To win the Spanish opening And mark his ticket for the 2026 masters and the open championship. The 27-year-old Englishman has won three times in the DP tour this season, won his PGA Tour card and seems to have run for bigger things.
But 12 months ago, he was in the middle of a free fall. The pledge had come down to no. 440 in the official world golf rankings, and faced a five -legged, five -legged blow to the Korean Genesis Championship. If the obstacle had been lost, he would have lost the cut and lost his tournament card in the DP. He rolled out inside and ended up in 22nd to keep his privileges close.
But the Odyssey of Motaong’s Godong was just the beginning. He played last year under the knowledge that the DP World Tournament was investigating it for violating betting rules. Pledge admitted that he placed betting on Golf diplomas and Ryder Cup, events in which he was not playing. He claims he did not know he was not allowed to bet on the tours where he was not playing. Regardless, the World Tour DP suspended obstacles for three months in December.
He returned and won Hainan Classic in April. An ADHD diagnosis in June, he said, helped him better understand himself and the type of training regime he had to follow. He won again at the Danish Golf Championship in August and again in Spain on Sunday.
The pledge is directed to PGA Tour as one of the 10 best players of the DP year of the DP, who were not already excluded. And yet, as has often happened in the chopped professional golf landscape, there have been unfounded rumors in some corners that the pledge can make the dance in Liv Golf, as Tom McKibbin did earlier this year.
On Sunday, Penge was asked about his future and if Liv Golf is an option.
“I am going to America tomorrow with my wife to find a place when we move in January,” said the pende, through Golf. “As far as I am aware, I am playing PGA Tour next year and hope I can have a great season and end up on the Play off -et (FedEx Cup) there and then go back to the PD World Tournament and play the rest of the season here. Hopefully I will have a great season and I will end up off and then go back to dp. Here.
“I like to play golf, and I would play every week if my team allows me. I want to play against the best players in the world, and I want to play national opens like this. When you win a team of the national team, this is something I will never forget. It is something my family will never forget. This is my plan.”
In less than a year, the pledge has almost gone to the fall inside the golf at no. 31 in the world.
“Hard hard to believe where I was eight months ago where I am today,” he said. “To do it (go to the 31st in the world) in the World DP tour, where the points are a little less, it’s extraordinary (but) I’m not the type of person to do yourself.”
PGA Tour is next. At least, this is the plan.
