Nick Faldo is convinced that the short course trend is here to stay.

A professional golf tour in a 12 -hole course? Nick Faldo believes it will happen.
“I’m making a prediction that you will see it in the next five to seven years,” he said.
Faldo’s comment came to The last episode of Podcast of Golf travel, Destination Golf, where the great champion six times reflected on the changes in the game-and broader socio-economic shifts-that have brought new thoughts in golf design.

“We have broken the stigma that the courses are not quite interesting or quite challenging or the quality is not good enough,” Faldo said. “Is a whole new world.”
Faldo is not the first to celebrate short courses. But he has been loved for them for a while. Years ago, in EnglandHe built a 9 -hole course for himself and hired a full -time supervisor who, Faldo said, “He was upset by the mind because I was the only one who played it.”
Times have changed. Short have grown so rooted in the game culture that the results recorded in them can now be posted in The world handicap system. Rarely is the high-dollar resort that has not invested in a smaller foot playground.
Faldo, for his part, has all gone to short courses, as well, after recently partnering with Himalayas Golf-a company founded by Faldo’s long design partner, Paul Jensen-specializes in what he calls “Golf in small spaces”, with ambitions to build everything from the home-made short games, neighborhood.
In past generations, selling such concepts was virtually impossible, Falado said. He knows. He tried years ago on a property in Bermuda that, he said, would have been perfect for a short course if only the owners had been willing to think outside the box.
“They said,” No, it should be championship, par 72, “he said.
In recent years, however, as the popularity of golf has expanded, so they have perceptions of what a course may be. Faldo is convinced that it is only a matter of time before short courses for elite competitions are adopted.

“It would be perfect for a pro-AM like good old crosby, or AT&T,” he said. “You play 12 holes in the morning, you have a nice lunch, then play 12 afternoon. It is easy to make within a day. It would be good as a corporate deal and even for fans.”
Impossible? Maybe but there is a precedent. Faldo won three open championships by grinding four rounds in courses with 18 holes. But the first ChampionshipIn 1860, over three rounds was opposed to a 12 -holes with the Golf Club in Prestwick Club.
