Pole vaulter Alisha Newman was disqualified for the setbacks

The Canadian, who won Commonwealth gold in 2018 and Olympic bronze in 2024, has been suspended by the athletics integrity unit.

Alisha Newman has been suspended from athletics for an anti-doping rule violation.

The 31-year-old Canadian won Olympic bronze in the pole vault in Paris 2024 and is a three-time Olympic and Commonwealth Games winner since 2018.

He is competing lightly in 2025 and has not run in 2026 so far.

Newman caused a stir in 2024 when he celebrated with a tumbling move after winning bronze with a Canadian record of 4.85m, and also decided to take part in the ‘Fans Only’ event, albeit only to show himself off for training and competition.
