Two late goals saw Brentford grab a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Tuesday.
A lackluster first half saw both sides create a handful of smart chances. City’s positional dominance looked to be returning as they managed 20 touches inside the Brentford box, but they could only translate that into two shots on target before the interval.
Savinho hit the post five minutes after the restart and Erling Haaland should have opened the scoring with a header soon after but, after Mikkel Damsgaard saw a goal ruled out for offside, City grabbed the lead that he deserved it when Phil Foden curled a lovely volley home from Kevin De Bruyne’s cross.
Nathan Ake cleared off the line to preserve City’s lead, which was doubled with 12 minutes remaining when Foden crashed home a rebound to give Pep Guardiola’s side a lead that looked insurmountable .
Brentford refused to lie down, however. On 82 minutes, Yoane Wissa pulled one back for the home side, before Christian Norgaard headed home in injury time.
The Bees even thought they had won it in the 95th minute, only for Ake to clear another shot off the line to salvage a point for a shell-shocked City.
