Player ratings as Raphinha stars in Clasico

Barcelona picked up their first trophy of the season on Sunday night with a 5-2 victory over fiercest rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

An unbelievable first half was marked by breakdowns on both sides. Real MadridKylian Mbappe broke the deadlock with a sumptuous individual goal after just five minutes. However, when Alejandro Balde completed a strike in the last ten minutes added to the first half, Barcelona went 4-1 ahead.

Lamine Yamal’s pinpoint strike into the far corner in the 22nd minute canceled out Mbappe’s opener. Robert Lewandowski he shot Barcelona in front with a penalty in the 36th minute shortly before Raphinha headed the Catalans in to take a 3-1 lead.

The Brazilian needed just three minutes into the second half to take over Barcelonait’s the fifth of an afternoon to savor. Bursting in behind Madrid’s new backline, Raphinha had already beaten Aurelien Tchouameni but found time to slip past the makeshift centre-back for some fun before slotting into the bottom corner.

Madrid, as they have shown so many times, would not go down kindly on that good night. Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for a wrong lunge on Mbappé just before the hour mark. From that same free kick, Rodrygo found the top corner to reduce the deficit to 2-5.

All ten Barcelona clung to their advantage, holding on to lift the first title of Hansi Flick’s tenure while Madrid were left to lick their wounds.
