Jermall Charlo says his plans are to defeat his set opponent Thomas Lamanna on May 31, beat Caleb Plant and then end his career against Canelo Alvarez. It sounds like a pipe dream.

The 34-year-old Charlo stands in front of Lamanna (39-5-1, 18 COs) in a 10-round fight on the Caleb plant against Jose Armando Resendiz on PBC Prime video At the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. This will be Jermall’s first performance since his 10-round decision on Jose Benavidez jr. On November 25, 2023.
He had a two -year discharge for that fight, and he was supposed to stay busy. It didn’t happen. So, here we are two years later, and Charlo comes back again and says the same things he last did about how he would stay. How can anyone believe in him?
Charlo must have kept enough of his game in the four mostly slumbering years to have a shot to beat the plant to get the Canelo pay day. He has not been doing well since his victory over Sergiy Derevyanchenko in 2020. The only two battles Jermall has since had were ominous performances against Juan Macias Montiel and Jose Banavidez jr.
Presumably, Charlo (33-0, 22 COs) would retire because of the payday so big in the Canelo battle that they do not want to continue to fight. He is already alive of the money he has had in his career, so to fight him only once since 2021.
Retiring -goal

It is likely to take a lot more than beating plant and Lamanna for Charlo to get that retirement pay against Canelo. He will have to beat some of the younger, relevant fighters, such as Christian Mbilli, Diego Pacheco, Edgar Berlanga and Osleys Iglesias. Do I think Jermall can beat those guys? No, none of them. The Jermall we saw against benavidez jr. And Montiel loses all the fighters.
Facing planting
