In a surprise action, the ping has just been signed to sponsor Torque GC, one of Liv’s most successful and dynamic teams.
The new deal, which starts at Liv Golf Mexico City this weekend, sees Ping officially returning a list of all-llatn that presents Joaquín NiemannMito Pereira, Sebastián Muñoz and Carlos Ortiz, all of which grew up playing ping clothing and continued to rely on ping throughout their career pro.
“All four members of the Torque GC team played Ping equipment before they returned professional and continue to do so today,” said the president and CEO of Ping K. Solheim in a notice. “They are great friends and extraordinary competitors. We look forward to following their successes as a team and individuals as they help raise ping awareness for players all over the world.”
Ping support will not be just behind the scenes. Expect Ping brand head dresses, staff bags and full club configurations for all four players … marking a rare moment where a device company is well represented with the visual identity of a team and the image in the course.
A personal connection
For Niemann, the captain of the Torque GC team, the ping connection is deeply personal.
“My first set of Ping clubs was one of their new groups and I’ve had Ping clubs in my bag since then,” Niemann said. “They are an engineering company that sets the product performance above all … We are honored and grateful Ping has chosen to support GC torque in such a meaningful way.”
Niemann is not just all conversations, he is already insured four individual wins in liv (including two this season) and added a high profile win in the Asian tour last year with the debut of the new G440 Ping driver.
