Phil Mickelson was going back the time at Golf MiamiBut things started to go aside for the six -fold champion.
Mickelson began the last day in the famous Blue Monster of Doral in the last group and in a tie for the third, only three blows from Bryson Dechambeau’s supremacy while he searches for his first Liv Golf.
Mickelson even climbed into a blow to the lead after making a bird in the par-5 opening while Dechambeau fought in difficult conditions.
But after Mickelson left his approach to the short green 7 on a front top, his field was played almost perfectly, but the result was simply not right.
Known for his short game skillMickelson’s field seemed to go down to the top of the hole. It almost happened.
*Clank!*
Mickelson’s ball drained from the flat plane and instead of catching the edge of the cup, he jumped to the right and rolled down green and in the pond.
The 45th winner of the PGA Tour was amazed.
“It would take a bounce and check, as if it had lost the flag,” Liv Golf broadcaster David Fehets said.
“This is absolutely brutal,” added Jerry Foltz.
“This is just about the worst rest we’ve seen this year now,” Fehets said after seeing a repetition.
Knowing Mickelson’s rotation is likely to have in the field, he went probably having three or four legs left to need Chip-in-Bogey to save Bogey.
Mickelson’s chip Bogey was tracing, but it is understood only a little short, not wanting to have the same fate as the last.
He made Putt for Double Bogey and threw four of the superiority. He then rejected the 8th PAR-5 hole to fall further in his last appearance before He requires a fourth green jacket next week in Masters.
