Alex Noren’s training for solid contact with wedge

When you are standing on the right track, wedge in hand, do you feel safe and ready to attack? Or are you a pack of nerves, for fear of leaving it short or hitting it thin?
If these main marking shots are stimulating anxiety, Alex Noran’s simple training may be just the thing you need to clear your contact and call to your wedges.
Noran, who is currently T7 in 2025 PGA ChampionshipIt was 20 balls in the 2024 season for access from 50-75 yards. Last year, Noran shared one of his favorite exercises he uses to call on his wedges.
Range Noren’s workout
To try Noran’s training, find a place in the range and place a club or stretch rod around a foot behind the ball, perpendicular to your target line. Next, catch a wedge with low lower middle; In the video above, Noren uses its scale 56.
“You don’t have to bring it closer,” says Noran, “(is) just a memory not to do it.”
With your help of stretching in position, Noran says make short swing by focusing on one thing: lost stick
“You see that I reach over this (the stick), above him down, but I haven’t got a divotine,” says Noran, “So it’s not about divot. It is just about the angle of attack.”
As Nora demonstrates, avoiding the stretch rod helps you practice to come to a faster angle of attack, promoting a cleaner blow and first contact with the top you will need to control your rotation and trajectory on these shots.
Once you can constantly hit these shorter shots and lose the stick, gradually extend your swing. Remember, with these clubs, there is no need to fight or “help” the ball in the air. They do all the work for you.
With enough practice, you will increase your durability and confidence in these key marking shots and glue your arms-setting you for a light two-point, or if you are really called, getting up and down from anywhere.
