Pep Guardiola seems to be scratching himself again after the Manchester derby

Pep Guardiola was once again spotted with a scratched head following Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat by local rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

The Spaniard grabbed the headlines in November when he appeared at a press conference with scratches on his face and head after City came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League.

worrying, Guardiola said “I want to hurt myself” when reporters asked about his injuries.

Guardiola later apologized for his comments and issued a statement X insisting that he never wanted to put self-harm aside.

“He caught me off guard with a question at the end of a press conference last night about a scratch that had appeared on my face and explained that a sharp fingernail had accidentally caused it,” Guardiola wrote.

“My response was in no way intended to make light of the serious problem of self-harm.

“I know many people struggle with mental health issues every day, and I’d like to take this moment to highlight one of the ways people can seek help, by calling the Samaritans hotline on 116 123 or emailing to jo@samaritans.org.”

Manchester City’s results have not improved since then, with their latest setback seeing them concede two goals in two minutes in lose 2-1 at home to rivals Man Utd.

The reigning champions have now won just one of their last 11 games in all competitions and the stress may be getting to Guardiola, who has again been seen with head scratches.

Guardiola was asked how he can turn City’s form around after Sunday’s game, but the manager said with concern that he is “not good enough” and that he is “not doing well” under pressure.

“All I have to do is keep working, I’m the boss, the manager and I’m not good enough, it’s as simple as that,” Guardiola said (via Sky Sports).

“I have to find a way to talk to them, to train them how to play, press, build and I’m not good enough, I’m not doing well, that’s the truth.

“It happens, it’s football, move on.”
