Down a set in this all-American quarter-finals, Jessica Pegula Refused to press the panic button.
Pegula suppressed the issue instead of gathering the past Emma Navarro 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-1 progressing to her daughter’s semifinal in Beijing.
Pegula with the fifth seed progressed in her 12th WTA 1000 career semifinal.
“I told myself not to disappoint too much,” Pegula said. “Just stay calm, try to rest a little and not try so hard to execute the game plan.
“This type allowed me to play for free.”

The victory sends the Open Finalist of 2024 to China’s semifinal Open against Czechekia Linda Noskov.
Noskova’s 26th Noskova converted five of the eight drops of rest to a 6-3, 6-4 British Briton 81st Sonay Cartal to reach its fourth semifinal of the season.
