2024 US Open winner Jessica Pegula will not compete for Team USA at this year’s BJK Cup Finals.

The USTA announced the news on Wednesday, saying that Ashlyn Krueger will replace him in the team.
Krueger will join Danielle Collins, Peyton Stearns, Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide on the Billie Jean King Cup USA team that will compete in the upcoming finals, to be played Nov. 13-20 in Malaga, Spain.

It will be a BJK Cup debut for Krueger, a 20-year-old 6-foot-1 from Dallas who posted three wins over Top-25 players over the summer and reached the third round of the US Open. She is currently ranked 65th in singles and 64th in doubles.

Krueger defeated teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva 6-1, 6-4 on the podium at this year’s US Open as she broke the 17-year-old’s serve six times and dominated from the ground to win in 64 minutes. She is a former Orange Bowl and USTA 18s champion.

The USA will play Slovakia in the first round in Malaga on November 14, with the winner playing Australia in the quarterfinals. Each tie will be a best-of-three competition with two singles matches and one doubles match.
