Pedro Acosta wants to fight Marc Marquez at the top of MotoGP, and it looks like he’ll do anything to get it.
Before moving on to MotoGP, Acosta hates being called ‘the next Marquez’. The Spaniard had, and still does, a huge buzz around him as many consider him to be the future star of the sport.
Acosta He definitely showed his talent. KTMSixth in the first season of 2024 and fourth last year in 12 stages, including Sprints. However, the 21-year-old is yet to win a MotoGP race, prompting him to move on in 2027.
Acosta looks set to join Ducati Next season, in collaboration with Marquez And replacing Francesco Bagania. He has long been linked to the Borgo Pangale outfit, with the VR46 showing interest to the KTM rider since last year.
However, Ducati is set to fast track straight to the factory team. Jorge Lorenzo Márquez is surprised that Acosta did not stop The 21-year-old player is seen as his replacement from joining the team.
But according to journalist Mela Chercoles, Acosta plans to be at Márquez’s side in 2027, regardless of the bike or overall color scheme.

Speaking through MotorcycleChercoles Acosta talks about how Marquez will join any team he does in 2027. He wants the opportunity to compete on equal machinery.
“I’ll tell you one thing, Pedro Acosta, and I know this for a fact, which team would Marc Marquez go to,” he said.
“In other words, if Marc decided to leave Ducati and go to Honda, he would probably sign with Honda to have the same equipment as the best rider in history for many.
“And if Marc Marquez had decided to go to KTM, Acosta told me he would have stayed at KTM, I mean I’m sure of that, I know it for sure.
“He wants to measure himself on par with Marc Marquez, like Jorge Lorenzo did with Valentino Rossi at Yamaha. I mean Jorge Lorenzo’s biggest pride is five titles, three in MotoGP, beating Valentino Rossi on his own.”
“Even better, because Acosta wants the same thing, he wants to know exactly where he stands compared to Marc. Not saying he’s going to win, but he wants to have the tools to try to beat him, to dream that he can beat him and I think that’s great.”
“And Marc Marquez knows where he will be for the next two years, the official pit of Ducati, the red pit, Lenovo, and that’s where he’s gone, he’s got his way.”

Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez could have been teammates at KTM and Honda.
Ducati’s 2027 line-up has been in the works for some time in MotoGP. Acosta and Marquez are targeted by KTM in 2024. They planned to capture them in a third group, but Dorna blocked the move.
Acosta’s new approach would follow Marquez to the team on the grid, and Cervera’s Ant had several offers on the table.
Both Marquez and Acosta contacted Honda. However, the Japanese giants have opted to sign Yamaha’s Fabio Quatararo on a deal that could run until 2027.
Interestingly, Marquez was presented by KTMThis would have encouraged Acosta to stay in Austria. But in the end, both are bound for Ducati, making for an interesting rider pairing.
