Paul Scholes is tipping Ruben Amorim to switch the Man United star’s position

Ruben Amorim will arrive at Manchester United with his own ideas and methods and they are completely different to what Erik ten Hag had deployed at the club.

The Portuguese manager favors a three-back defense and his tactical change may prove beneficial for some players, but some will also struggle to adapt.

All the new players would be hoping to give their best to impress the new manager and be part of his future plans.

Man United legend Paul Scholes has suggested Amorim could use midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in a more advanced role, which could suit the young England midfielder.

While speaking TNT SportsScholes claimed that Mainoo could play as a number 10 in the 3-4-3 formation that Amorim likes to play.

He said:

“He’s got his two No.10s, which is something you don’t see here. And I think he’s got the players. I think Fernandes is definitely one of them.

“Actually, I think Mainoo could be one of them too. I think he’d be a better player, playing higher up as a 10 with a bit of security at the back. I think he’d suit him better.”

Mainoo has regularly played as a double pivot in Man United’s midfield and this has been his best position to date.

It remains to be seen whether the new manager will switch positions and use him in an advanced role.

The young midfielder has shown potential to adapt to different set-ups and his performances for club and country have shown he is open to shaping his game according to the manager’s needs.

Kobbie Mainoo has been outstanding for Man United and England

With Gareth Southgate for England and Ten Hag at Man United, Mainoo made the best of his skills and was one of the best players in his team.

He has shown that he can dribble, get out of tight spaces with his tricky touches and passes.

New roles should be defined for the players as they will be playing in a new formation and it will all depend on the coach which player he prefers in certain positions.
