Paul Azinger and Bernhard Langer know more about PGA Tour’s champions – the current moniker for the old PGA Tour district – rather than for anyone. And on Friday they both made a prediction about the tournament that will certainly turn their heads. Forecasting? Tiger Woods will lift it with the elderly long ago.
The two golf legends made their comments Friday at Tibon Golf Club Promotion of Chubb Classic I PGA Tour Champions’.
And their words are worth taking seriously. For azinger, quite literally. Ex -tour pro was Recently named Golf Channel’s leading analyst for PGA Tour Champions transmissions.
And Azinger had many words to share about the Tiger prospects that joined the old tour.
“I feel like there will be a big prediction for Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods will be eligible for the tour Bernhard ended last week. The big question is whether tiger will play or not, what will she do For this tournament.
“Then, suddenly the concentration is on this tournament. I believe there is a lot of prediction. Many boys will be in shape and ready and try to beat tiger if they can.”
But Azinger went a step further. He thinks Woods can feel a “obligation” to play along with the oldest good in the PGA Tour champions. Why? Because he has benefited financially from the PGA Tour players’ impact program.
“I think Tiger can even feel an obligation to play tournament,” Azinger said. “The tournament has given Tiger long ago with the last few years with that player influence program. I am sure he will return, and will be in all the benefit of these boys here who are over 50.”
Woods won last year’s pip, a ranking of popularity, earning $ 10m (He received $ 15 million to win a year ago). But that will be the last time. Pip I PGA Tour is now over.
Langer i get tiger
Langer PGA Tour Champions credentials are even more legitimate. In the publication for two titles of masters and 42 European tournaments (second at all times), Langer has the oldest victories in history, a 47 uncle and counting.
He is one in the biggest pro -speaking players in history. But he is without a doubt the only biggest player of all time. And he is “obedient” tiger until soon in the older circuit.
“It would be an emotion to see Tiger come out and play the champions tour,” Langer said on Friday, “and I’m convinced he will play some.
And Langer’s opinion can be informed by some internal information. As explained at his press conference on Friday, Langer Played along with Tiger and his son Charlie on the Championship PNC in December. In fact, Langer and his son Jason defeated Tiger and Charlie on a play off to win the event.
Langer described the experience as “an emotion” and received Tiger’s competitive fire. Making? Tiger has not yet been done with the tournament golf.
“Tiger still loves the game. He is still very competitive, and he enjoys seeing his son become better in the game, and Charlie loves him, so I think he will stay with him, ”Langer explained.
Players must be 50 to have the right to play the PGA Tour champions. Woods, now 49, Returns 50 on December 30 of this year. This means that he could hypothetically make his debut at the PGA Tour Champions one year from now. And Langer knows the massive impact that Tiger can have on the old tour.
“When he comes out … he always moves the needle. He is a very exciting personality to see, and it would be fantastic for tiger and for our tour to compete there, and I think all players would welcome him, and It would be an interesting competition because the boys … are very good, ”said Langer. This, and we have only 78 tours cards essentially, so it’s a very tour, very difficult to start, and only the best makes it. ”
A question remains
But the big question not addressed by any aging legend is whether Woods body can handle competition, whether he wants to play or not.
Given the condition of his legs and back after repeated operations over the years, Tiger may be able to play several tours a year. And he is repeatedly said he wants to continue playing in four golf diplomas as long as he can.
Of course, diplomas will take precedence over the old tournament, but some PGA Tour champions start a year may be possible.
We will get a better idea in the coming year as Woods mount his last return from damage.
