The distance runner is fourth on Great Britain’s all-time half marathon list after his fifth place in Texas.
Patrick Dever began his 2025 campaign with a 60:11 at the Houston Half Marathon (January 19).
The Briton, who represented Great Britain in the 5,000m at the Paris Olympics, finished fifth in the record-breaking 13.1-mile race in Texas.
Dever is now fourth on the UK’s all-time half marathon list; only Mo Farah (59:31), Callum Hawkins (60:00) and Emile Keires (60:01) have gone faster.
This was only the second half-marathon in Dever’s history. he clocked 63:02 on his debut in 2023. in the long distance run in Philadelphia, and he was also the best European in the field in Houston.
The 28-year-old has a rich history in track and cross country, representing Great Britain at many major world championships.
Dever ran the 5,000m at last year’s Olympics and finished 13th in the French capital.

His personal best over 5000m is 13:04.05, set at last year’s Boston University DMR Challenge, which saw Dever move up to sixth on the UK all-time list.
Dever, who ran a personal best of 27:08.81 in the 10,000m last March, is the second fastest Briton ever over 25 laps. only Mo Farah has gone faster.

Dever has also competed in multiple European Championships, finishing fifth in Tilburg in 2018.
Dever, a prodigy in the NCAA system, represented Tulsa and his biggest win at the collegiate level came at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships, defeating Conner Mantz in the 10,000m at Hayward Field.
Notably, the two were in the same field at this weekend’s Houston Half Marathon, where Mantz set a US record for 13.1 miles in 59:17.

In an all-time classic finish to the Texas event, Mantz just missed out on the win; Addisu Gobena of Ethiopia also clocked 59:17 to win, but obliterated Ryan Hall’s national mark of 59:43 in 2007.
In the women’s field, Ethiopia’s Senayet Getachew clocked 66:05, just four seconds ahead of Veini Kelati.
Kelati, who ran 66:25 at last year’s Houston Half Marathon, also broke her own US record in Texas.
Jessica Warner-Judd, who clocked 31:50 in the 10km in Valencia just last week, finished 11th in Houston in 69:07.
