Zuffa Boxing has now given real shape to its long-teased entry into the sport, confirming the full three-fight lineup for its debut show, Zuffa Boxing 01, scheduled for January 23rd at the UFC Apex.
The card has been confirmed via the promotion’s official X account and will stream live on Paramount+ starting at 9pm ET. All three contests are slated for ten rounds, a clear sign that Zuffa is aiming for television-ready fights rather than developmental filler.
The main event pits Irish junior middleweight Callum Walsh against veteran Mexican puncher Carlos Ocampo. Walsh enters undefeated after 15 fights and remains one of the more tightly managed prospects in the division. A household name for elite opposition, Ocampo brings durability and power that should explain where Walsh actually sits when rounds stretch and hold resistance.
Starring Olympic bronze medalist Misael Rodriguez against Austin Deanda. Rodriguez has been looking for a decisive professional foothold since flipping, while Deanda has built a reputation as a willing, physical opponent. This is the type of match that quietly determines whether an Olympic credential translates to more than marketing.
Opening the broadcast is a junior middleweight encounter between Julian Rodriguez and undefeated puncher Cain Sandoval, who has remained busy and aggressive over the past year. For Sandoval, it’s a step in controlled exposure. For Rodriguez, it’s an early test against momentum.
The stripped down format reflects the Apex model that Zuffa knows best. No additional payment. No filler. Just enough structure to see how this promotion plans to function once the bell rings.
Walsh’s most recent outing did little to further that narrative. His ten-round victory over Fernando Vargas on the Canelo-Crawford undercard last September was functional but unspectacular, drawing a muted response from viewers expecting a grittier statement on such a big stage.
Reaction online reflected that disappointment, with some questioning whether Walsh’s development had kept pace with his exposure. The Ocampo fight offers a chance to restore those impressions under conditions where rounds and resistance will once again be the measure.
