Chelsea Manager Liam Rosenior has dismissed suggestions that Cole Palmer is restless in west London, insisting the striker is enjoying his time at the club.
Stories have emerged claiming the 23-year-old, who was brought up in Manchester, has struggled to be away from the north of England, with talks also linking him with Manchester United.
Palmer, who supported United as a boy before progressing through Manchester City’s youth system, moved to Chelsea in 2023 in a deal worth £42.5m.
The coach supports long-term commitment
Any doubts about Palmer’s future appeared to be addressed last August when he agreed a two-year extension that could see him stay at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Rosenior has explained that he has spoken regularly with the England international and believes there is no problem in terms of his happiness or commitment to the project.
The head coach stressed that Palmer remains central to the club’s vision, noting that injury setbacks can affect confidence but do not reflect a decline in ability.
Injuries, frustration and team updates
Palmer has endured a tough campaign physically, particularly as he deals with a recurring groin problem that has limited his pace.
Attention increased after last weekend’s League win over Brentford, when he showed little emotion after converting a penalty and headed straight for the dressing room at full-time.
Rosenior said the reaction was motivated by personal disappointment rather than dissatisfaction with the club, adding that Palmer will be watched in training ahead of Sunday’s game at Crystal Palace. The manager also confirmed that assistant goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is sidelined but could return for Wednesday’s European game in Naples, while midfielder Dario Essugo faces more than a month out after an accident on the training ground.
