Pakistan bows out as UAE prepares to host India’s games

In a major development, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to follow Hybrid Model for ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India The National Cricket Team will not play their matches in the territory of Pakistan.

A few months ago, the preliminary schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was announced. According to that schedule, India’s games had to be played in Lahore due to security and logistical reasons.

The tournament was scheduled to start on February 19, 2025, while the high-octane match between India and Pakistan was scheduled to start on March 1. But now it looks like the United Arab Emirates will host the clash between the arch-rivals. Emirates.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently renovating all the stadiums that will host matches in the marquee tournament, spending around Rs 13 billion. Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi will reportedly host matches in Pakistan, along with a venue in the UAE.

During an interaction with PTI, a PCB source said that the Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to follow the Hybrid Model if the Indian government does not allow the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send its team to Pakistan.

A reliable source in the PCB told PTI that “the PCB feels that even if the Indian government does not finalize the tour of Pakistan, the schedule may be slightly adjusted as India is likely to play its matches in Dubai or Sharjah.”

A recent report by SportsTak also revealed that the Indian government has not given permission to the BCCI to send Team India to Pakistan. With no permission from the government Rohit Sharma– Nothing can be done by visiting side Pakistan, International Cricket Council and Pakistan Cricket Board.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule will be announced on November 11

As mentioned earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board has already sent the preliminary schedule to the International Cricket Council and wants the governing body to announce the schedule on November 11. The PCB does not want any delay in announcing the schedule, as a back-up plan is in place for India’s games. It is already available with the required budget outside of Pakistan.

“The PCB has discussed with the ICC the preliminary schedule they sent a few months back and wants the same to be announced on November 11,” the source said.

“He told the ICC that with the revised budget, there was no point in delaying the release of the original schedule of matches as a backup plan was already in place.”

Also, the Pakistan Cricket Board has strongly requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to confirm the stand of the Indian government in writing and they want the BCCI to announce its decision soon.

“The PCB wants the BCCI to state in writing whether it has received permission from its government,” the source said.

The Hybrid Model is nothing new for Pakistan as the Pakistan Cricket Board followed the same model during the 2023 Asia Cup where Sri Lanka co-hosted the tournament after India refused to tour Pakistan.
