Spanish stars are disappearing from Madrid’s magic box.
Paula Badosa withdrew from Mutua Madrid Open due to a constant back injury.
World No. 9 Badosa announced its withdrawal on social media prior to its planned opening against Veronika KudderMova.
“Hello to everyone. I wanted to let you know that unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Madrid Open,” Badosa posted. “I tried everything possible until the last moment because you know how excited I am to play at home, but it’s a complicated injury.
“Hope to be 100% soon. A big hug, Paula.”
Departure no. 1 of Spanish women comes a day after twice the champion of Madrid and Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz was forced due to damage.
The rearwashing has badosa limited to 22 matches this season.
27-year-old Badosa seemed to exacerbate the damage to her Miami Open victory over Clara Tauson. Badosa withdrew from Miami before her planned 16-year-old’s scheduled round against 19-year-old Filipina Alexandra Eala and has not played a tour since.
