Manny Pacquiao’s adviser, Sean Gibbons, says he doesn’t see the point in a re -broadcast with WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios, after their collision ended last Saturday in Las Vegas in a majority.
Gibbons want bigger PPV fight
Gibbons have the early estimates of the PPV Prime video Pay-per-views, and wants a bigger name Manny to fight that will bring in the buy for his next battle. Barrios is not a big enough draw.
What Gibbons may not admit is that there is little interest in his fighter, Pacquiao, among the younger fans who are now following the sport. There are not enough older box fans to bring in the type of PPV buy he hopes to bring in. This is not 2012. Younger fans see Pacquiao only as an old 50 fighter who returns like other retired fighters, lured by the smell of money.
Gibbons are aimed at Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis of Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero for Pacquiao to fight next. However, Rolly is also not a PPV draw. The largest PPV event that Rolly was involved in was his fight against Tank Davis on May 28, 2022, which produced 275,000 ppv purchases. It was because of tank, not rolling. Davis could have fought someone and brought in similar numbers. Romero was just the opponent for tank.
Gervonta will not agree to fight Pacquiao unless he is offered more than he can fight against Jake Paul or Shakur Stevenson. It is doubtful that PBC would be willing to offer the tank the kind of money he could get to fight against the guys.
Rolly Romero: Fun Pacquiao fight?
