With all the big clubs hitting the market in 2025, it’s no surprise that many of our staff made room in their bags for new gear.
For some of us, it was a new driver or a new club to help us find our way, even if it was a bit taboo for our playing friends. Others found new wedges to bring the ball closer to the green. And one of our writers found not a new club, but a new method of traveling with them. After all, what good are your clubs if you can’t get them where you’re going safely?
And if our staff loved these sticks, there’s reason to believe you might too.
Here are five favorite clubs (and a travel cover) GOLF staff added to their bags in 2025.
Jack Hirsh, equipment editor (@JR_HIRSHey): Gosh, picking my favorite club I added to my bag this year is like picking who my favorite kid is – parents do it right?. However, while I loved almost everything that went into my bag at 2025, the best it was probably my R7 Quad Mini driver. As I have written several times already this year, I did not believe in mini drivers, thinking that there was not much purpose for them. But then I actually looked at the numbers and realized that I could gain control with the added spin and forgiveness of the larger mini-driver and split it better between my driver and the hybrid. As a bonus, because you get it higher, you can hit the ball more like a driver and swing it a little looser. I don’t play a 3-wood – or now mini – much out of the deck, but I’m able to keep the weight back on the R7 to give me that ability if I ever need it. So far it has turned into a super useful club.
TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Custom Driver
PERFORMANCE FOR THE MODERN PLAYER Inspired by one of the most iconic designs in TaylorMade’s history, the R7 Quad Mini Driver pays homage to what has come before while creating its own modern identity in the same spirit. It’s that very modern design that incorporates proven TaylorMade technologies to give players versatility and playability. R7 QUAD WEIGHING SYSTEM The new quad weighting system features four movable weights (13g x2, 4g x2) that provide spin management and stroke shape control. The forward CG creates a penetrating flight more suited to maximizing distance, while the aft CG helps prioritize control and ease of use from the deck. The shot shape can also be fine-tuned helping to create the most optimal flight. Additional weights can be purchased for a wider range of adjustment. INFINITY CARBON CROWN A new satin Infinity Carbon crown has been added to the R7 Quad Mini Driver chassis creating a stunning look while saving weight for better mass optimization. The cosmetic package is clean, elegant and inspires confidence.

Alan Bastable, executive editor (@alan_bastable): My co-worker, noted hardware developer Jake Morrow, nearly fell out of his chair when I told him on a Zoom call a few months ago that I had purchased a Cobra Air-X offset driver. Offset drivers aren’t exactly fashionable, with all the adjustability available in modern driver heads. But after missing a lot of righties in the middle of a golf outing earlier this year, I started using my friend’s Cobra Air-X offset, and the results were immediate: a lot less loft and sweep to the right. If you’re not familiar with the science of offset putters, the arm is set slightly back from the shaft, which in theory gives you more time to roll and square the face at impact and move the ball from right to left. It’s not the prettiest looking head, and it’s also not a magic wand – I can and still miss it, and broken hooks rear their ugly heads too – but mostly the club has helped neutralize my most costly flaw. I can’t put a price on staying in the game.
Cobra AIR-X Offset Driver
The AIR-X OS driver features a lightweight build and an all-new HOT Face insert. Designed to help smooth swing players generate increased club speed and distance by compensating for fairer ball flight.
Sean Zak, Senior Editor (@Sean_Zak): After recently going through a bunch of club gear, I’ve added a 5-wood bag: a Titleist GT2. I’ve avoided 5-woods for most of my life, but I’ve always loved the all-around nature of playing the wood off the tee. Now that I’m in my mid-30s, my swing speed will only decrease over time. So having a club that can still launch high in the sky and fly 220 yards or more will keep me from getting rattled on longer fairways.
Titleist GT2 Custom Fairway Wood
Experience the high launch distance from the top and off the deck. GT2 Fairways uses a proprietary crown and new forged face to produce consistently impressive speed and trajectory on every swing. Built for increased confidence, these fairways are designed to increase performance — no matter where you hit it. For players looking for more confidence on their freeway, the GT2 delivers consistently impressive speed and launch—no matter where you hit it. Deeper, further CG Start him from every lie. GT2 Fairways pushes performance even further by moving the CG even lower and closer to the face – generating maximum distance through higher launch and lower spin. Forged L-Cup Face GT Fairways introduces a forged face in the club construction to strengthen performance on low center impacts. The new insert wraps around the bottom of the club to maintain ball speed, maintain launch conditions and improve sound and feel – even when trying to clear it from a tight lie. Redesigned Inner Hosel To extract every ounce of performance on the GT2 Fairways, Titleist engineers pursued every ounce of weight savings. The redesigned inner tube achieves subtle improvements in mass that deliver real benefits on every swing.

Nick Piastowski, Senior Editor (@nickpia): Unfortunately for this exercise, I didn’t add a new club to my bag this year – but I think I can contribute. I have added a travel bag. Actually, a specific type of travel bag – I needed one that would leave a small footprint. And I think I’ve found a winner – it’s him Kube travel cover from Sun Mountain. With the hard shell covered, it works well for travel. But it also works for my closet—it folds into, yes, a little cube.
Sun Mountain Kube Travel Cover
The Sun Mountain Kube Travel Cover represents the pinnacle of travel gear for the golf enthusiast. Crafted from durable, ballistic-style fabric and reinforced with plastic half-shells, it guarantees unparalleled protection for your clubs while offering the convenience of compact storage. Johnny Wunder, director of equipment (@johnny_wunder): Hard to pick a real favorite club in 2025, but I will say that I was very impressed with the TaylorMade MG5 wedges. TaylorMade has always done pretty well in the wedge category, but this new iteration not only looks the part, but oh my god, make these things roll. To be fair to the market, I can say that every wedge spins at a fun level, but these MG5 RIPs, which for any player is an added feature. If drivers are a category of sight and power, wedges are sight and spin. Don’t sleep on these things coming in next year, Rory and Tommy have both… and they went really fast.
TaylorMade Milled Grind 5 Wedge Custom
INCREDIBLE FEEL Incredible feel is a must for a great wedge game. The MG5 is forged from mild carbon steel and engineered with geometry to deliver great feel with great feedback. MAXIMUM SPIN The MG5 uses all-new, more aggressive grooves designed to maximize spin. Saw milled channels produce tighter tolerances allowing engineers to design steeper walls and sharper radii intended to maximize spin in both dry and wet conditions. ALL-CONDITION PERFORMANCE Raw face with Spin Tread technology channels moisture to help maintain spin. In the same way that tire tread helps your drive stay connected to the road, laser-etched channels redirect water into the impact and create more friction between the club face and the golf ball to maintain spin in wet conditions. Craftsmanship MEETS CONSISTENCY Handcrafted and then ground to perfection. Each wedge and sole grind is precision ground to eliminate the natural human error that comes with hand polishing. Our builds offer unmatched durability and craftsmanship that players can count on every time. CARCOAL FINISH The MG5 debuts a sleek and sophisticated charcoal finish that reduces glare and enhances its aesthetic appeal on the bag.

Jake Morrow, Gear Content Manager (@madefortherange): Callaway Elyte TD TD changed my whole season. I didn’t have a great start to the year in terms of goals and a lot of it was having zero confidence or trust in my previous driver set-up. Despite the terrible name, the TD TD is more of a neutral flying head than a true towing head. As someone who likes to draw the golf ball, I just found it easier to swing the head more consistently without losing the ability to work the ball both ways when needed. After putting TD TD, maybe shaving off 2 or 3 shots in the round, the confidence increased for my game and everything else started to click. I ended the year as a plus handicap (which is probably too low), and the game looks like it’s in a great place.
Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond Tour Draw Driver Custom
Draw like a pro The all-new Elyte Triple Diamond Tour Draw is designed for top players who want to swing the ball from right to left and prefer a more compact, tour-proven head shape. It has the same shape and specifications of the popular Triple Diamond model. The Elyte TD positions a little more weight in the toe area to increase the golfer’s ability to swing the ball the other way compared to the Triple Diamond model. Elyte Game-Changing Technologies Shaped for Speed: The all-new Elyte Triple Diamond shape offers improved aerodynamics for elite speed throughout the golf swing. Thermofortified Carbon Crown: This aerospace-grade carbon fiber enables a low CG for optimal launch and spin. Ai 10x Face: Our most advanced Ai10x face yet, the Ai10x Face increases speed, spin and distribution across the entire face.
