New York –residue has apologized for the wandering Taylor Townsend During their heated exchange after the match Wednesday evening.
Doubles World No. 1 Townsend disturbed the 25th, 7-5, 6-1 to reach the third round of US Open.
In tightening the back after the match, Ostapenko, who was upset her opponent, did not apologize for a net blow, could be heard bursting Townsend saying “You have no education … wait until we are out of SH.BA”
Some players, commentators and fans called Ostapenko out for those remarks.
Formerly -Bota Nr. 1 Naomi Osaka said it’s “one of the worst things you can say to a black tennis.”
Today, Ostapenko apologized in the stories on Instagram.

“I wanted to apologize for some of the things I said during my second round match,” Ostapenko said. “English is not my mother tongue, so when I said education, I was talking only what I believe as tennis labels, but I understand how the words I used could have offended many people beyond the Tennis Court.”
Townsend, who said she has not personally spoken to Ostapenko since their heated exchange, said it was good that Latvian apologized through social media.
“No, it’s good that she did what she apologized. I mean, it’s good. That’s good,” Townsend told the US Open media. “At the end of the day, I think it’s a lesson lesson for him. Again, as I said when everything happened for the first time, you can’t push your expectations for other people. That’s ultimately what happened.”
Townsend suggested that Ostapenko was trying to promote a reaction from her with “without education”.
“She was expecting me to react in a certain way, and I didn’t, and I angered him. That made her say things that are harmful, combat, that are offensive, not just for me, but you know, for this sport and for a whole culture of people I try to do the best to represent the best I can. “So, for me, it is good that she apologized. You know, this is not the first, second, third, fourth time. There have been incidents where she is worried about a net cord, so it’s not a startling thing she did this way.
“Also, we just have to have in mind it’s competition. We’re playing a sport. You know, you can’t worry if someone doesn’t do something you want them to do. How, who are you? I can’t go crazy you don’t do something you probably expect you to do.”
