Things were going rapidly for Naomi Osaka on Wednesday in Osaka – until they were not.
The big champion four times was two points from the third set of Suzan Lamens through Bagel, but suddenly withdrew lame with a left foot injury that forced him to receive a medical timeline immediately.

Osaka took the leg wrapped in the laminate waiting to serve at 0-5, 40-30 in the final group.
She would return to court to applaud, and eventually closed two games later, 7-6 (6) 3-6-2.
“It was definitely really difficult,” Osaka said. “I’m sorry for my attitude, but I’m really happy to have won – it’s very special to play here.”
She shorten the short interview by saying “Can I go, my foot is really hurting”, and immediately left for court.
It remains to be seen whether Osaka, who turns 28 tomorrow, will return to her quarterfinals against Jaqueline Cristian on Friday.
