The Baltimore Orioles made the playoffs for the second year in a row, but had another disappointing showing in October.
Over the past two seasons, the Orioles have lost all five of their playoff games, as both years they’ve been outscored in their first series.
The Orioles relied heavily on the long ball in 2024 as they had the second most home runs in baseball with 235, behind only the AL East rival New York Yankees with 237.
Because Camden Yards is one of the more difficult places to hit a home run, the Orioles have announced they will make some changes to the size before the 2025 season, according to The Baltimore Sun’s Jacob Calvin Meyer.
“The Baltimore Orioles are moving their left field wall from 9 (feet) to 20 feet, lowering it from 13 feet to 8 feet, the Orioles announced today as Orioles wildly celebrate the news,” wrote Bob Nightingale of USA Today In X.

Seeing as the Orioles relied primarily on home runs to score in 2024, the changes should be cause for celebration for their hitters, if not necessarily their pitching staff.
The changes are likely to benefit right-handed hitters as they come in left field, so it will be interesting to see if the Orioles follow through this season.
Anthony Santander led the Orioles with 44 home runs in 2024, but he is a free agent and cannot re-sign with the team.
With plenty of talent in the free agent class, the Orioles should have other opportunities to sign some power hitters this offseason.
