Opportunity knocks on these five players in Canada – tennis now

Among a small portion of home names still in the mixture before the quarterfinal action at 1000 level events in Canada this week, there are some newbies that can simply be ready to make a large spray.

And a big four -fold champion that has not seen much success in the biggest late events.

Let’s take a look at some of the players who can produce breakout results over the next three days in Canada.

Alex Michelsen

The 20-year-old American has arrived at his Masters Masters quarterfinal, and this makes three American men in the neighborhoods of a master’s event for the first time since 2004 Indian Wells: Michelsen, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton.

Today Michelsen will face Karen Khachanov in Toronto while he offers to become the youngest American man who reaches the semifinals at a Masters event after Andy Roddick won the 2003 title.

Clara Tauson

22-year-old Dane has already defeated the two main players of the 5th in 2024. She has now reached her second quarter-final WTA 1000 and is already in a new ranking in a high career of 17 in the live rankings. She will face Madison Keys on Tuesday.

Victoria is a pocket

It is all juicy for the youngest player to be equal in women-and the latest Canadian staying in both events-in Montreal this week, after 18-year-old Card Card Victoria Faces confronted with Jessica Bouzas Maneiro for a place in Semis on Monday evening.

Labo, making her main debut for the draw, beat Coco Guff to reach the quarterfinal of her daughter WTA 1000. Equally for Bouzas Maneiro, and both players are making offers to reach their first semifinals of the tournament.

Ben Shelton

22-year-old American Ben Shelton has already reached the semifinals in a major, but he has not gone to a Masters event so far. He will have a chance to reach Feat on Tuesday when he meets Alex de Minaur in Toronto, at a meeting for the first time.

Of the eight men who are left in the equilibrium of bachelors in Toronto, only the Americans – Michelsen and Shelton – have not yet managed to reach a final of the masters.

Naomi Osaka

Could it be the champion time four times Slam to shine again in Montreal? Naomi Osaka, with the new coach Tomasz Wiktorowski at the top, will offer her first semifinal 1000 semifinals since 2022 in Miami.

Former -nr.1, who rested the past Anastasija Sevastova in 49 minutes on Sunday, will face former champion Elina Svitolina on Tuesday.

Only four of the remaining eight remaining players in Draw Montreal have previously won a title at 1000: Madison Keys, Elena Rybakina, Osaka and Svitolina
