On Saturday 15th November, London’s running community and spectators descended on London’s Lee Valley Athletics Centre. Open zonesa high-octane track night designed to bring together athletes, creatives and runners of all abilities and backgrounds.
The free event brought the Swiss performance brand to life On In partnership with Cape Town Community Track Clubwhich reflects a universal commitment to inclusive community action.
From 4pm to 10pm, London’s running crew and their communities came together to enjoy an action-packed evening. The event kicked off with an inclusive coaching run led by Spanish national record holder and 2:22 marathoner Laura Luengo. This was followed by an exciting race schedule that included several pace groups for the Rapid 2K race, as well as a number of 800m relays with men’s teams, women’s teams and mixed teams. The 200m track resulted in sharp turns, hard accelerations and high drama as teams raced to cross the finish line first.

More than 500 people attended the event, with 200 trying out On’s latest releases, the Cloudboom Strike LS, Cloudboom Strike and Cloudsurfer Max, before putting them to the test on the track in 12 races.
The night culminated in the electric Mile race with a twist, a dramatic finale where runners had to strategically cling to the Pacer for 6 laps of the closed course, before the final 400m dash.
Open Lanes was born from the joint desire of On and Community Track Club to create a vibrant experience for London’s running community that is 100% inclusive and committed to the spirit of community running so that everyone feels they belong on the lanes.
