Omar Trinidad will face Hector Sosa on Oct. 26, 360 Boxing Promotions announced late Thursday. The 10-round bout will take place at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
“Omar Trinidad continues to prove with every fight that he is one of the top featherweights in boxing,” says promoter Tom Loeffler. “His willingness to face the toughest fighters in the division and his aggressive, all-action style have made him one of the most popular fighters in California. Hector Sosa is a very solid, highly rated world class fighter with an impressive winning streak and represents Omar’s toughest opponent to date.”
Trinidad (16-0-1, 12 knockouts) has been a staple of the Hollywood Fight Nights cards at the Commerce Casino, which attracts large crowds. Trinidad lives about 15 minutes away in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.
In his last fight on July 26, Trinidad stopped former prospect Viktor Slavinskiy in the 10th round of an action fight. In his previous fight on January 27, Trinidad dropped Jose Perez twice en route to an eighth-round knockout victory.
The 28-year-old also has wins over Roberto Meza and Adan Ochoa.
Sosa (17-2, 9 KOs), who lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last fought on June 30, defeating Keenan Carbajal by unanimous decision. In his previous fight on July 22 last year, Sosa won a minor world title belt by knocking out former world title challenger James Dickens.
Sosa, also 28 years old, has won his last three fights since losing by unanimous decision to Christian Carto in October 2022.
The Ring has learned undefeated flyweight prospect Daniel Barrera (7-0-1, 4 KOs) of Eastvale, Calif., will also be on the card. Barrera sparred regularly with four weight division world title holder Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez.
