NZ vs ENG: Tim Southee surpasses Jacques Kallis’ number of sixes in Test cricket

With 98 career sixes, Southee surpassed South African cricket legend Jacques Kallis, who had 97 sixes to his name.

Southee’s achievement also tied him with former West Indies explosive opener, Chris Gaylewho similarly has 98 sixes in Test cricket. Given that New Zealand still has an innings to play in this Test, fans and analysts expect him to overtake Gayle soon and climb even higher in the rankings. This record highlights that while Southee is famous for his bowling, his batting skills cannot be underestimated.

Southee’s milestone in Test cricket

Southee reached this milestone in dramatic fashion during his short but impressive innings. Face to face Ben Stokes On 79, he cleared the short ball over mid-wicket for his 96th six. Two balls later, he hit a straight, powerful shot over deep backward square to record 97 for a six. Gus Atkinson and launched him over deep mid-wicket, taking him to 98 sixes in Test cricket.
