Former England captain Michael Vaughan has named two Indian players to watch out for in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) series against Australia. Michael Vaughan has overlooked former Indian captain Virat Kohli despite his impressive record with the bat in Test matches in Australia.
The Indian cricket team is currently preparing for a five-match Test series in Australia. Former cricketers and experts share their views on the players who can make a significant impact in the series. Both teams have winners which will make it highly competitive and closely fought.
The Australian media has already started playing mind games ahead of the upcoming series. Recently, The Daily Telegraph carried a picture of Virat Kohli on its front page with the caption ‘Battle for the ages’ in Hindi. The paper had Yashasvi Jaiswal on the back page calling him “The New King” in Punjabi.
Michael Vaughan Picks Two Indian Players To Watch Out For
In a conversation with Adam Gilchrist and others, Michael Vaughan was asked which Indian player he is most excited to watch. Michael Vaughan named Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant to watch out for. He said that Pant will have to play blinder again in Australia.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal would be one, but Rishabh Pant, I think he’s absolutely in the box. He makes the batting look like he’s playing more in the yard,” said Michael Vaughan.
“He’s under the most pressure to play for India, social media goes crazy when India play. And he just looks like he’s having a bit of fun with his friends in the middle. He played some really good innings. You go back. In that innings in Brisbane when he knocked India out, I think , this man on screen, Rishabh, will have to turn a blind eye once again for India to be truly competitive.
