George Kambosos jr. Lectures said the IBF Light Welterweight Champion Richardson Hitchins today during their press conference and said he “does not chase a zero” and that his focus is fighting the best. Kambosos jr. (22-3, 10 food) sounded a lot as if he had tried to reduce the impact of three defeats in his last five battles before their 14th collision in Madison Square Garden Theater in New York.
Hitchins (19-0, 7 food) makes his first defense of his IBF title he won against Liam Paro last December. Fans hoped he would fight one of the talented contenders, such as Subriel Matias, Maine Ortiz or Elvis Rodriguez. But instead, he chose the little ’emperor’ Kambosos in what is seen as a business level.
“Not zero” logic
Fans have the former Unified Lightweight Champion Kambosos Jr. Criticized for getting a world title in just his second fight on 140 after defeating Jake Whyle, a lower level of non-recordings, recently in the Light-welterweight class in March. He gets the title more shot because of his popularity from his short time than the Unified 135-pound champion than because he earned it.
“I’m a real fighter like I’ve told Hitchins before. He is so caught up to be 19-0. F *** the zero. I’d rather lose my zero against Haney and Lomachenko, the best of fighting the best, because I know what kind of champion I am. That’s what the fans want. Kickoff -Pers conference For their battle on June 14 in New York.
You cannot deny that Kambosos jr. In the past few years have not fighted some good talents, but that he lost them. It’s great that he was willing to fight guys like Vasily Lomachenko and Haney, but it’s not a good look that he’s going to be beaten.
“The zero doesn’t matter. If we get the best fights now, who’s going to be the winners? The fans, the media, the box, the sport and the fighters because they want to take a chance and fight the best,” Kambosos said.
