Nitish Rana’s return to India becomes Rahul Dravid’s next big mission


A 30-year-old left-handed batsman Nitish Rana Rajasthan Royals (RR) revealed that he is the head coach Rahul Dravid promised him that the Indian National Cricket Team would return.

Nitish Rana, a Knight Rider in the Indian Premier League since 2018, was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 4.20 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It came as a big shock to everyone as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) did not avail their Match Right to retain their former captain. After parting ways with the franchise, he was one of the contenders for the captaincy of KKR. Shreyas Iyer.

However, Knight Riders showed no interest in getting Nitish Rana back and this made his wife Saachi Marwah quite angry, who posted a cryptic message on social media saying, “Loyalty is very expensive, not everyone can afford it.”

In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals (RR) on their official social media channels, Nitish Rana spoke about his interaction with head coach Rahul Dravid. He said:

“Sometimes we create stories in our heads, we think if I ask this question, will they judge me? But in all the time I’ve worked with him, the common fear of many players – that if they talk to someone, they’ll be judged – has never bothered me from day one.”

Rana said Dravida is targeting a direct return to India with Rajasthan Royals (RR). He further said that Dravid has offered him his full support and is confident that he will do his best for the franchise and his career. He said:

“I just told him I played under him in my first game series and I want to come back to the Indian team. I will need your help because your guidance is very important to me. He accepted and said: “We will do the hard work. ‘Franchise or tere career ke liye jo possible cheez hogi wo karenge’. (“We will do everything possible for your franchise and your career.”)

Nitish Rana’s IPL numbers

Rana played for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He started his journey with Mumbai Indians (MI) before switching bases to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In total, he played 107 games in the league. In these matches, he scored 2636 runs at an average of 28.65 and hit 18 half-centuries at a strike rate of 135.04.

Talking about his journey with Indian National Cricket Team, he played two T20Is, scoring 15 runs and one ODI, scoring 7 runs.
