Ongoing SPOON: Sir nick faldo!
The big champion six times joined me for a spoonful of chocolate ice cream to discuss all the golf things: winning the 1990 open championship, his “dark days” that lasted two full years, the biggest lesson he has learned in his 67 years, highlights of career and much more.
I was particularly interested in talking to Faldo about his transition from playing golf to being in a broadcastAnd the learning curve that came with it. There is definitely a big difference in the middle of his meeting in a tour and talking about him in the broadcasting cabin, but what surprised me more was how little trainim passed the false before he started his television career. Here’s how it joined it:
“They throw you at the deep, flat ending out. You put your ear phones, they say them (showing),” Well, this is your cough button, that’s if you want to talk to your manufacturer, “and outside you go. We had zero instructions. And I just said,” You know what? And I thought I would just be in golf. But you teach you to breathe. So you just learn to rittize yourself. “
I imagine that Faldo had so little training because he already knew the game so well, but, Gosh, the nerves he should have felt in the air in the first time. This could not have been easy.
Faldo joined with Jim Nantz At CBS as the leading golf analyst in 2007, and his favorite Nantz memory happens from their first Master Together that year.
“My favorite memory is actually my first masters with him. We’re still calling Golf Live through the Internet (before the network telekasti starts), and we’re sitting up to two minutes to go. And Tiger is now going out, so we’ll stay in it. And Tiger is now throwing grass in the air. We’re in a minute. Cue, probably the opening of the opening. So they were my first masters. “
