Ngetik 63:08 WL, third fastest half ever
VALENCIA (ESP, October 26). Kenya’s Agnes Ngetich clocked the third fastest time in history at the Valencia Half Marathon (WA Gold Label), beating the world leader in 63:08. Only Ngetić himself (63:04) and world record holder Letezenbet Giday (62:52) have ever run faster. Ngetic ran world record times for 10km in 29:18 and 15km in 44:36 before slowing in the final six kilometres. “I know I have a world record in my legs and my splits were at that speed up to 15km,” he said. Ngetich beat Ethiopia’s Fotien Tesfai (65:11) and Kenya’s Veronica Loleo (65:46 PB) by more than a minute. Debutant Klara Lukan was seventh in the European lead in a Slovenian record of 68:04, while Alecia Zarbo set a French record of 68:20 in eighth.
