Newcastle United are looking for an eighth straight win in all competitions when they host League Two side Bromley in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The Magpies have beaten Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on the road in their last three outings, including on Tuesday. Victory in the first leg of the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on the Gunners taking them closer to Wembley. Without European football to drain the batteries, Newcastle will have similar success to the FA Cup.
Given their recent scalp, a visit from fourth-tier Bromley seems fairly straightforward for Newcastle, but the Fish will be aiming to conjure up some of the fabled FA Cup magic during their third-round opener.

Having played so much football over the Christmas period and with a Premier League game on Wednesday, Eddie Howe will be tempted to rotate much of his starting line-up against Bromley. Fringe players like Lloyd Kelly, Miguel Almiron and William Osula could earn minutes.
Saudi Arabia-bound Martin Dubravka or Odysseas Vlachodimos will start between the posts given Nick Pope is still on the sidelines, with the former potentially heading to the Middle East this month. Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles are absent in defence.
Callum Wilson remains in the treatment room with a hamstring problem and Howe has confirmed that Alexander Isak, who has scored 14 goals in his last 15 outings, will have the afternoon off.
Newcastle predicted line-up against Bromley (4-3-3): Vlachodimos; Trippier, Schar, Kelly, Targett; Willock, Longstaff, Miley; Almiron, Osula, Barnes.
Ben Thompson has proved influential for Bromley in the first half of the campaign and the previously on-loan midfielder has signed permanently ahead of the Newcastle game.
Michael Cheek will be the main source of attacking joy for Bromley as the 33-year-old has scored 14 goals this season. He was recently nominated as League Two Fan’s Player of the Month for December.
Bromley predicted line-up against Newcastle (3-4-1-2): Smith; Grant, Sowunmi, Reynolds; Imray, Thompson, Arthurs, Odutayo; white; Dennis, Cheek.
Newcastle are likely to have a second-string team for the visit of Bromley, but that should have little impact on their progression to the fourth round. With home advantage, bags of confidence and some talented fringe figures looking to prove a point, there should only be one winner on Sunday.
Bromley will fancy their chances of troubling a much-changed Newcastle defense at times and the clinical Cheek could be their source of consolation. But Bromley are conceding more than a goal a game in League Two and will likely be punished by Newcastle’s riches.
