Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff is open to a move to MLS

Newcastle United have hardly spent any money in the last two transfer windows.

In January last year, they struggled to strengthen their squad and the same happened in the summer transfer window when they desperately wanted new players but were unable to spend money due to profit and sustainability rules.

The Magpies could face the same fate once again in the upcoming transfer window.

Eddie Howe’s side may have to sell players to fund their transfer business, such are the financial constraints the Premier League places on clubs.

Bruno Guimaraes is linked with a January move to Manchester City and while it will be a huge blow to the club, it could bring them the funds they need for their transfer business.

Another player linked with a move away from the club is midfielder Sean Longstaff.

according to The ChronicleLongstaff has no intention of leaving the club at the moment, but an attractive offer from a Premier League or MLS club could change the midfielder’s position in a move away from St James’ Park.

The need for fundraising in Newcastle is so high that they are considering the sale of Harvey Barnes.

Newcastle United must manage their finances

Newcastle’s finances have been a major concern for the club and this is hampering their progress on the big stage.

This season, their form has shown how difficult it is for them to perform and it is clear that they need new additions to the squad in both the right-back and central-back positions.

Not only are the Magpies looking to sell players to raise funds for new signings, they are also trying their best to offload players who command high salaries at the club.
