Newcastle United made a triple fitness boost ahead of trip to Everton

Newcastle United have received a fitness boost with Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar all set to play against Everton this weekend.

The Magpies travel to Goodison Park on Saturday evening looking to bounce back after picking up just one point from their last two Premier League games.

Newcastle were without striker Alexander Isak against Manchester City due to a toe injury and with Callum Wilson also injured, Anthony Gordon had to deputize as a No.9.

Isak and Wilson will remain sidelined until after the international break, meaning Gordon could play as a forward in his old stomping ground.

Newcastle United will welcome back key players for Everton’s trip

Isak’s continued absence could prove costly for Newcastle.

However, Pope and Trippier have been in the image in training after missing out on a 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup.

Eddie Howe has confirmed that both England internationals will be fit to feature on Merseyside, alongside centre-back Fabian Schar, who has been striking.

“Alex Isak will not play the game. We expect him to be back with Callum Wilson for the game after the international break,” Howe said (via Newcastle United’s X account).

“Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schär should be fine. Martin Dúbravka had a nasty knock on his knee, but it won’t be serious.”
