New Zealand XI vs England – 1st T20I, England New Zealand Tour 2025:
Keys: Devon Conway, Tim Seifert (WK)
New Zealand will look to win the first T20I of the three-match series against England to get off to a winning start and take an early lead in the short series.
The Blackcaps lost 2-0 and will be closed by the return of regular captain Mitchell Santher, who was not part of the team’s last T20I.
A daily dose of cricket!
The home team will be hoping for a better outing than what they have brought in both matches to give their batsmen the best chance of defending the target.
For that to happen, the onus will be on the New Zealand openers to get the team off to a good start in the power play.
The opening combination of Devon Conway and Tim Seifert will look to put in a strong performance both as a pair and individually against a strong English bowling line-up.
Middle Order Batsmen and all-rounders: Mark Chapman, Tim Robinson, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Kyle Jamieson
As for the close order, the team will have to capitalize on the platform that helped them post over 200 runs in the team total, which could lead to a total gain in batting first.
Looking at the sources that make up New Zealand’s Closer Order, it has a young youth and experience with the likes of Daryl Mitchell, Tim Robinson and Mark Chapman.
Tim Robinson, who scored a century in the first T20I against Australia, will look to carry his form into the series opener under England.
Mitchell, who shared a great partnership with Robinson in the same match, would like to make a significant contribution with his ability to play well in the middle overs.
Apart from the two batsmen, Mark Chapman and James Neesham are expected to come good with the bat.
Bowlers: Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry
As far as the bowling department is concerned, Mitchell Santher has made a comeback, along with Michael Bracewell, who also has the batsman of the team and Santner’s absence against Australia.
The pair will take care of the team’s spin bowling while the fast bowling department will be handled by Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry.
Duffy and Henry will help as will the two fast bowlers of Kyle Jamieson and James Neesham.
The home team will have at least six bowling options, which will further strengthen an already balanced bowling line-up if Daryl Matchell also finishes bowling.
