New Zealand announce squad for West Indies; Matt Henry rested, Kyle Jamieson returns



New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced their squad for the upcoming T20I Five match series against West IndiesIt will start in Auckland on Wednesday 5 November.

Kyle Jamieson returns as the Black Caps name their T20I squad for the West Indies series

The most notable inclusion in the squad is Kyle Jamieson, who returns to the T20I set-up after recovering from a side injury he picked up against England. Jamieson’s return is a significant boost given PACE New Zealand’s ability to bounce and move around on New Zealand pitches.

However Matt Henry rested for the series. According to the NZC, movement is part of it “Pre-planned conditioning unit” Designed to manage the workload and ensure West Indies’ fitness for the upcoming ODI and Test series. Having recently kicked a calf injury, Henry remains a vital part of New Zealand’s red ball and 50-over squad.

Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell Power Up Spin Options

The squad also sees the return of Ish Sodhi, who brings the all-important experience and range of spin. Along with Mitchell Santner in the New Zealand Spin Department of SODHI, he will continue to lead the team after the retirement of Kane Williamson. All-rounder Michael Bracewell features in the squad after recovering from a long injury spell, adding depth to both the batting and bowling sections.

New Zealand’s 15-man squad combines seasoned promoters and emerging talent, striking a balance between consistency and experience. Batting Unit Established names like Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell and Mark Chapman will be seen to watch in the shortest format as well as promising players like Rachin Ravindra and Tim Robinson.

The PACE attack will be developed by Jamieson, supported by Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes and Nathan Smith, offering a mix of PACE and Control. Jimmy Neesham, Tim Seifert retain their place as first choice WicketKeeper.
