Mount Enterprise, Texas – As the architect saved Tom doak Use one of his latest projects on a fuel day in the distant East Texas at the beginning of this summer, he could not help, but be excited by the landscape he distributed before him.
“It’S is unlike any property I have worked for in the last 10 years,” says Doak.
That land is 2,400 hectares rolling hunting in Texas that will soon become wild dunes of spring, the first Lone Star State course by Dream Golf, electricity developers after Gang dunes AND Resort.
The object, which is planned for a soft opening of eight holes later this fall and an 18 to spring 2026, will ultimately accommodate 36 holes. A second layout by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw has already been driven by construction that is expected to begin later this year or early.
The area, approximately two and a half hours southeast of Dallas, will also provide tourist housing after the 18th DOAK course greenery; private cabins and houses; a short course; and long views of forested enclosures.
“It will feel like Pinhurst with some changes in height,” said General Manager Mike Abbott, who previously held positions in Tiger Woods designed Bluejack National Outside Houston and former PGA Tour Tpc-Mon Colinas Outside Dallas.
“With all the proper respect, I don’t think Texas has a truly excellent golf resort (still),” Abbott said. “And I have been in most of them. That will be really special.”
After making three trips to SIT over the last four months, DOAK agreed.
“Changes in topography and transitions are those that really tease me here,” Doak said. “I certainly take some pinhurst, even Pine Valley, vibes.”
Construction in the Doak course, which will be a par-72 that extends to about 7,120 yards from the back, has continued this year. Developing private housing, along with Resort Lodging and Clubhouse, will begin next year.

The Doak Course begins with a PAR-4 soft dogleg, near the top of what the locals call MT Baldy. It has a comprehensive view of the valley below with dry brushes and gills, with a spring coming out of the ground that inspired the course name.
Eleven bridges tie the property together. Abbott said the course will only stroll (with cadites on offer) part of the year and allow riding the other half.
Dream Golf has had a lot of success by attracting moving players to such remote destinations as the Coast Oregon (Bandon Dunes) and Central Wisconsin (Sand Valley); Rodeo Dunes, a dream golf structure near Denver, will open later this year. Piney Woods of East Texas, where temperatures are regularly in 90-100 degrees during the summer, follow the same pattern if you-build-ATA-ATA will come.
The land for Wild Spring’s dunes was discovered by Dallas Brett Messeral businessman, who for the first time contacted Doak. Messerall later brought Dream Golf Golf Visionary and the founder of Bandon Dunes, Mike Keizer and his son, Michael, in the project for organizational and financial support.
DAAK had already worked with Keisers on many projects in Bandon Dunes and also in Sand Valley, so from day one on the Texas site there was familiarity and a sense of management for both the designer and the developer.
While there is no private real estate for sale in Bandon Dunes and very little in Sand Valley, Dunes Wild Spring will break away from that mold. Dream Golf is already selling many “founders” that will be paired with the type of high rack hospitality for which Discovery land properties have become known.
“The service will be out of the tables,” Abbott said.
The safe bet the whole country will be.
