After working for nine years Capitals of Delhi in the year Indian Premier League (IPL)tending to be a star wicket-keeper Rishabh pants finally released by the Capitals ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)A relatively new interested party in the IPL snapped up Pant and acquired him for a record price of INR 27 crores. However, the whole process of this mammoth signing was not as smooth as it seems. Pant himself was surrounded by pre-auction thoughts and reservations as he revealed which franchise he really thought would buy him for the season.
Rishabh Pant launches his new franchise ahead of the mega auction
Owner of LSG in special discussion Sanjiv Goenka Pant announced that he will have a new captain for the upcoming season. The franchise used to lead KL Rahul before releasing him after the disappointing end to his previous campaigns under his leadership. Pant will now lead a star-studded LSG team in IPL 2025. David Miller, Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Aiden Markram and many others.
But it was during this announcement that Pant revealed his thoughts ahead of the mega auction. According to Pant, he hypothesized two teams to go for the explosive 27-year-old and his guesses were not far from reality.
“Mereko andar se ek hi tension tha, woh tha Punjab (there was only one tension from within and that was Punjab). The second highest (purse) was 82 crores. Punjab had 112 million. When Shreyas (Iyer) went there, I thought I could go to LSG. I thought there was a possibility.” Pant said during a conversation on Star Sports.

The pants are stuffed ahead of the upcoming IPL season
However, in his discussion Hot starPant also spoke about his feelings after being named LSG’s captain ahead of the new seasons and expressed his level of commitment to the franchise.
“Amazing. Right now, I just have one word: I’m so bored. Just as a player, when your owner supports you and helps you in that way, your confidence level and commitment will increase 200%.” Added a new LSG captain.
LSG owner Goenka additionally talked about the development for LSG ahead of getting Pant and also talked about the level of confidence he has in getting the star wicket-taker for his side.
“I wanted to buy Rishabh Pant, which is the last point. I didn’t care what other people and their opinion about which team wanted Pant. I was sure that I wanted to buy Rishabh Pant and I knew that no one could match my offer. I was never stressed. But we wanted Rishab at any cost, regardless of the price.” Goenka said.
