of 2026 LPGA season starts this week with the Tournament of Champions and Nelly Korda is preparing for another run at the No. 1 this year. But it’s Korda’s thoughts on another women’s golf league, WTGLthat are making waves this week.
In comments to Golfweek’s Beth Ann NicholsKorda expressed her “mixed feelings” about the new women’s version of TGL and strongly criticized TGL’s decision to sequester women in a separate league.
Korda slams TGL for leaving out LPGA players
In early January, TMRW Sports, the company founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy that acts DATEannounced the creation of a new women-only TGL league, WTGL.
WTGL will feature LPGA Tour stars playing the same technology-infused golf simulator that TGL debuted last year at the SoFi Center in Florida. TMRW Sports, the LPGA and many others heralded the inclusion of female golfers.
But Korda provided an opposite perspective this week. of former number 1 in the world The main issue with WTGL news involves EXCLUSION of women.

IN an interview with Nichols conducted while preparing for the LPGA season, Korda characterized the decision to create the WTGL, rather than add LPGA professionals to the existing TGL, as a “huge and unbelievable omission.”
“I have mixed feelings to be quite honest, and I’m surprised that no other girls have done it, or no one has really talked about it,” Korda told Nichols this week. “I think it’s a huge and incredible omission that we’re not playing alongside the men.”
She went on to argue that having men and women compete together would be “revolutionary” in terms of the growth of golf.
“There’s no bigger way to grow the game and it would have been revolutionary. I think it would be the first time that men and women are on the same playing field, playing for the same amount of money,” Korda said.
But Korda was quick to explain that while she wanted women involved in the TGL, the creation of the WTGL is still a positive development for women’s golf.
“I also think it’s great that we’re getting this opportunity, so those are my mixed feelings,” Korda said. “I don’t think there’s any downside. I just think it would have been even better to have them both together.”
First WTGL players announced, Nelly Korda missing
On January 19, TMRW Sports announced the first wave of LPGA stars who have committed to the inaugural WTGL season, which is tentatively scheduled for the winter of 2026-2027.
The first announcement featured six players including The world’s number 1 and half of the woman as a woman’s word:which took Korda’s No. 1 spot in the world rankings in 2025. LPGA veteran and semi-retired professional Lexi Thompson was also unveiled as a competitor to WTGL, as it was Lydia, Charlie Hull AND Brooke Henderson. But Korda, the world’s most famous women’s golfer, was not among them.
This week, the new stars of the LPGA Rose Zhang AND Lottie Woadboth former winners of Augusta Women’s National Amateuralso joined WTGL. But still not Korda.
Nichols asked Korda about her thoughts on playing WTGL, and while Korda didn’t commit to joining, she said she was considering it.
“I’m still weighing the time commitment. I just haven’t given it much thought because I’ve been really focused on trying to prepare for this season. I think logistically, they’re still trying to figure some things out, so I’ll just weigh my options in the near future,” Korda said.
