Hodgson’s comments differed from the rest of the MotoGP paddock, who left Thailand believing Bezecichi had an ‘amazing’ weekend. However, he believes it has been a ‘terrible weekend’ for Bezcicci.

Hodgson said: “To be honest, I might surprise you. I think he had a terrible weekend. He had 0.3, 0.4 seconds in his pocket and he should have won both races.

“It was a big mistake on Saturday, three crashes, he fell out of the sprint, and you come, and everyone goes, “Oh, this is amazing”. But you know what, we’re not using the heated tire that often, and if you’re the number one driver in the factory team, you have to capitalize.

“Obviously he didn’t have a terrible weekend, but if you want to be MotoGP World Champion, you can’t make mistakes like that.”

Pernat said, “A memorable Sunday for Aprilia, because it’s the first time they put all these riders in the top five. The Stratospheric Bezzecchi, as we said before, is the only opponent, a real opponent, for Ducati.”

Aprilia showed their pace at the Thai Grand Prix as the Italian manufacturer had all four of its riders in the top five with Raul Fernandez Bezeci on the podium, Jorge Martin fourth, and Ai Ogura fifth.
