It’s been a long time since we saw Tiger Woods competing in a real tour. But an NBC analyst received some internal information about Tiger’s game at a recent exclusive event, and he reported some very encouraging signs about Great champion 15 times game and health.
Eight times PGA Tour’s winner and current Golf analyst Brad Faxon competed in Exclusive tournament of the pro-member seminole Monday, March 3. Also in the field? Tiger Woods.
While Faxon did not play alongside Tiger at the seminole, his afternoon caddy had carried the tiger bag in the morning. Faxon could not help but question Kadi about how Woods’ game looked like.
Then Faxon joined the hosts Bryan Hayes and Jamie Mclennan in Tsn To share what caddy has seen from tiger to seminole. And if you are a Tiger fan, you will like what he had to say.
“He said Tiger led him there with Bradley in every blow. He walked 18 holes with even a lame. I don’t think it’s a matter,” Faxon said. “He is certainly able to play.”
The big question, however, is when Woods will make his return. He underwent his last operation last year, and then played the PNC championship with his son Charlie in December.
He initially planned to make his return to the PGA Tour in February at the Invitational Genesis, which he expects. But after his mother’s death, Tida, Woods decided to pass that event.
We have also seen Tiger play at TGL Indoor Golf League this year, though he Also lost a match after his mother’s death.
When he returned to TGL, he was asked when he planned to make his own debut of the PGA Tour season. But his answer was not encouraging.
“I really didn’t think about golf,” Tiger said at the time. “So I don’t think I’ll think about it just a little here.”
Since then, he announced that he would not play at this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, though he, of course, played at the pro-member seminole on Monday.
Most people believe that Woods will play masters next month, but whether he makes a start or not before is an open question. The other obvious option would be the next week’s players championship, for which Faxon gave an overview.
In his interview at TSN, Faxon admitted that he hopes Tiger to lift him to the players, but he is not quite sure based on Woods’ story at the event.
“He has not played in the players for a while. I think we’ve seen Tiger when he will go out to play saying he’s not competitive,” Faxon told tsn. “But if he is going to make his masters his debut, I would hope he would come to play a tour before trying and washing his feet, and we hope for us, for NBC, and for all the fans, would come to the player championship.”
