At her press conference after the match, Navarro said: “Yes, I thought it was fine. Played
Well when I needed it and made it had to hit many difficult shots. Served well occasionally. I felt like pushed back against it served well and was pretty strong from
Initial base. So yes, I’m happy. ”
Navarro, who reached Wimbledon’s quarterfinals last year, spoke to play with the grass: “Yes, I think the grass is a lot about movement and work of stability and time. Yes, they are all the things I actually emphasize all year. I think they definitely help me when I get into a grass court.
“I feel like I enjoy using some grass to my advantage and hitting a few slices and mixing different rolls and speeds and type of point temple control.
“Yes, by getting into the grass I didn’t know that that kind of thing would work to my advantage as much as it is, but there is. Yes, I’m just some kind of running with that.
“I like to pick up serving a little closer to the initial base of the grass and just try to be really strong and durable and use the land to my advantage in large services. “
Navarro was asked to be an American with 4of July coming. She said: “I am very proud to come from US and to play under the American flag.
“I think it’s an honor and it’s a pleasure. I have to represent US at the Olympics last year. This was a kind of pride that, you know, you don’t really get in other cases. Playing with the American flag in my chest was something very special. Yes, type I still gives me
chills to think.
“But I feel honored to be an American and play for US and represent US Tennis so I think it’s a privilege throughout the year we have to do it, and then especially this time of year.
“Try to celebrate a little. Not much because I have to play the next day. But yes, I think it’s a great holiday. “
