Australia National Cricket Team opener Nathan McSweeney spoke about the challenges he faced jasprit bumrah. He warned the quick bartender at the Gabba that he would punch him.
India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah has made life difficult for Australian National Cricket Team batsmen in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The fast bowler is the leading wicket-taker in the competition series with 12 doors to his name.
Jasprit Bumrah has hit flawless lines and lengths in the two games so far and has looked very dangerous with the ball. The fast bowler got the better of Nathan McSweeney in two overs as the Australian debutant in the series was given a tough time by the pacer.
Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Nathan McSweeney in two overs in Perth and then had his number again in Adelaide in the first innings. But he looked solid in the second match as he scored 39 and 10 not out, helping Australia mount a strong comeback in the series with a 10-wicket victory.

Talking about the experience of playing against Jasprit Bumrah, Nathan McSweeney said that nothing can be difficult for him now, especially when he faces bowlers like him early in his career. He added that he will take some confidence from the Adelaide Test. Speaking to Cricket Australia, he said:
“Getting a bowler like Jasprit at the start of my career won’t be more difficult than that. Going through a spell in Adelaide gives me some confidence. The more I face him, the more comfortable I will be against him.”
“It’s my first time facing him – he’s quite a unique bowler. He’s obviously world-class and a bit different to most bowlers I’ve faced. (It’s about him) adapting to his angle and where he creases.”

Nathan McSweeney, while talking about getting out to Jasprit Bumrah, said he will get better as he faces him more. He added that he hopes to throw a few punches at the pacer at the Gabba. He explained:
“I got two really good balls from him so I’m just trying to put that on my chin and I believe what I’ve done will be good enough. He got me again in Adelaide – he’s a great bowler and I’ve got a game plan against a world-class player I’m enjoying the experience of trying to prepare, hopefully I’ll get better as I face him and throw a few more punches here at the Gabba.”

Nathan McSweeney then spoke about playing at the Gabba, saying batsmen can rely on bounce here, adding that if a new ball challenge is handled well, batsmen can bat for longer. He explained:
“I love playing here – the wicket has a lot of bounce. To bat well at the Gabba is to leave especially well. You can really rely on the bounce here and that’s not fighting that bounce and scoring square on the wicket.”
“If you spend a long time there, the game can open up and you can score really quickly. It’s definitely a new ball wicket and if you can get past that, it’s a nice place to bat.”
