Do you have a list of golf buckets? Most of us do it, but while I am old (now 65 with a bullet), I am enraging against the term. “The List of Kovas” makes me think of mortality. While I don’t plan to go gently on that good night, I can humbly suggest a more genuine and affirmative term of life: Golf Ranking?
So today’s question is simple. As we rage, rage, against the death of Light, should be the Kohler destination (best known to you and me as whistleblowers and Blackwolf Run) on your Golf Game list?
And, if so, how high?
If you are a one -soul golf player, Pebble Beach and St andrews should only be at the top of that list. Kohler destination (we will call it Whistling Straits for simplicity) is one or two below, along with bandon, pinhurst and some others. It is not a huge drop and there is nothing to do with golf quality. Both Pebble and St andrews hold a spell gained through history. Cannot be repeated but it can be emulated.
Whistling Straits does an admirable job to immulate that feeling (the first thing you want to do in 18 is to find DJ bunker) and is extremely more accessible than pebble or old course. The question, of course, is the value.
Everyone who reads this article has their own value definition. Of course, it’s subjective, but we travel all over ourselves trying to put up an analysis of the result in the hope of coming up with a final answer.
We will not do it. What we will do is show you what we have paid and what we think. After that, it will depend on you to decide if it should be in your Golf LIST

Whistle Strait: Facts and Figures
As mentioned, what we usually refer to as whistleblowers is the coastal half of Kohler destination. Located for approximately an hour north of Milwaukee and one hour south of Green Bay, the Kohler destination includes the Whistling Straits Golf Complex on the shores of Lake Michigan in the town of Sheboygan, as well as Blackwolf Run, about 20 minutes away in the village of Kohler.
The Straits Whistling Complex is the one you know. It contains two courses: Straits is famous, after waiting for Ryder Cup in 2021 and PGA Championship in 2004, 2010 and 2015. Irish are the less known (but still scary) sister course. The Blackwolf Run complex includes the valleys of the river and the meadow, as well as the fabulous 10-Grima PAR-3 course called Banjat. Blackwolf Run also has a great legacy after waiting for Open Women Open in 1998 and 2012.
“Kohler” at the Kohler destination is, of course, the village of Kohler. Also Also Kohler Company, giant of hydraulic matches. Chairman of the Company Kohler Herb Kohler (which passed in 2022) Kohler’s head destination, hiring Pete Dye to create both courses in Blackwolf Run in 1988. He would later buy abandoned agricultural land on Lake Michigan and return the loose color there. Straits opened in 1999 and the Irish opened a year later.
We have examined the golf experience in detail before (you can Check here) but it is right to say Kohler’s courses range from very good (Meadow valleys) to spectacular (strait). Irish are probably the best combination of entertainment and challenge while the river is the Pete Dye test than you love golf.
Should you make the whistle strait package or a La Carte?
Let’s remove the first from the first way. All four courses belong to your Golf Their listing is quite simple: Straits is a main advantage, followed by Irish, River and Laidow Valley. If we read our Previous reviewYou will find that I feel the same way for the river as I do for the colonoscopy prepare, but, hey, it is what it is.
The next question is: If you choose to go, what is the best option? We chose a package, but tee times are surprisingly easy to mark if you just want to play one or two of the courses and stay close. You can reserve all over all Kohler destination website up to 30 days ago. A quick check this morning shows surprising availability as long as your plans are flexible.
The envelope fees are what you will expect. They may not make you happy, but they are what you will expect.
Straits will run you $ 735 ($ 455 sunset) while the Irish is $ 395 (270 dollars). Over Blackwolf Run, River is $ 495 (Twilight $ 340) and Meadow Valleys is $ 395 ($ 270 twilight). That 10 -hole bathroom course is $ 80. Straits is only standing (a caddy is mandatory) while carriages and forecasts are available in other courses.
If you are lucky enough to mark the time suitable for all five courses, the total would come to $ 2,100 for four full rounds plus 10 holes in the bathrooms. The resort has two hotels. A standard double room in the wealthy American club starts at $ 730 per night. A double room in Inn in Woodlake goes $ 425 per night a night.
Depending on your plans, the packages become a little more attractive.
“Color four”
Destination Kohler offers five golf packages to choose from, ranging from a single, one-night departure, to a full five-night Monty night experience.
Our group chose To color four packs for $ 2,886 per person (including taxes). It includes three nights in Inn in Woodlake, one round on each of the four 18 -hole courses, plus a round in the bathroom. This price also includes all kadiu tariffs (excluding tips), carriages fees, closet room use, bag storage and transfer, plus unlimited use of practice facilities.
The package also includes a load of pleasant supplements, including free repetitions in Irish courses, Meadow valleys and baths, which we were able to close at the time of our booking. A complete breakfast outside the menu was also included for every morning of our stay.
Moreover, the package contains a half hour lesson per person at the Golf Academy Kohler. Since there were four of us, the Academy gave us two instructors and what he achieved at a two-hour golf clinic. There is only so much a clinic like this that can be accomplished, but both instructors were very good and gave each of us some useful tips for everything, from the complete shaking to the game of sand (critical in Kohler) and setting. Typical lesson rates start with $ 220 per hour for two students.
Other pleasant touches include a beautiful holder of leather whistle whistles, plus bag labels, ball markers and teat for each course. We have also had full access to the Kohler sports community fitness center, which we used, and 20 percent of SPA Kohler Waters services, which we did not use.
Options and logistics
Dye Four packages is the most popular of Kohler. Not too far is the sample tracking package, which includes two night accommodations, plus rounds in Straits, River and your choice of Irish Valley or Meadows (go to Irish!). Everything else, including complimentary repetitions and half -hour golf teaching, is the same. If you plan it right and use your compliments wisely, you can play all four courses and squeeze in the lesson and a round in the baths on your arrival day.
Five-day experience Kohler contains four rounds plus free repetitions and all other features of four. It also includes access to River Kohler of the wildlife of the riverA private, 500 hectare storage that offers roses of walking, fishing and kayak, along with pheasant hunting and pistol shots and rifles.
Kohler keeps the packet prices near the vest, so you will need to contact them over the phone to get the specifics. Our journey was in mid -June, so we had the maximum day light for golf. We reserved the package in January which allowed us to take our favorite time.
Kohler runs a pretty tight ship. Upon arriving, the staff took care of our clubs and made sure they were in the right courses in a timely manner. They even crushed our full itinerary on a bag label, so we always knew where to be. Our group had two rental cars to return to us and on, but the resort drives ships between hotels and courses.
Is it worth the whistle strait?
If you are saving for a big Golf Traveling to your life, Pebble or St andrews should be at the top on your list. Pebble is the most iconic golf property in North America and St Andrews is the Golf home. So to say, the whistling and Pinhurst strait are wonderful second -level choices. Both show high golf and are easier to reach and get more than bandon dunes.
You can build a “budget” journey into whistling straits, especially if you only want to play the straits. You will pay the full rack rate, but you can stay wherever you want and build a trip about some other wonderful courses in south of Wisconsin, including Erin Hills, WORLD, Lawsonia AND Sandal.
Provide credit of whistles strait, however. Compliment repairs allow you to pack as much golf as you can. The service is high, the cadites are involved and you cannot beat a two-hour golf clinic for your fourth. The basic rooms in Inn in Woodlake are slightly rich in a yard of Marriott and the Kohler bathroom matches made a joy.
Everything else, from breakfast to free brats in the service of the clock bags and the brilliant cadad (our Adam man was fantastic), was first class. You will get the value of your money in Kohler.
So if you already made pebble or st andrews and have another Golf The travel list at Docket, we can recommend whistle strait with heart. You will have an explosion.
If you are saving for adventure once in a lifetime, however, Pebble and St andrews should be on top on your list.
