Musetti reaches the first half in Athens, faces Korda Next – Tennis Now

The groups for next week’s ATP finals in Turin have already been drawn. Now all Lorenzo Musetti has to do is qualify by winning the title in Athens.

The 23-year-old Italian took another step closer as he saw off fifth seed Alexandre Muller 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday, setting up a semi-final clash with American Sebastian Korda, who beat Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-2.

Musetti needs the title to overtake Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Race to Turin standings. If he does, he will make his ATP Finals debut in Turin as part of the Bjorn Borg Group, which also includes Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.

Musetti broke Muller’s serve four times in nine return games on Thursday and won an impressive 36 of 72 return points.

Musetti and Korda have shared four previous meetings but have not met since 2022.
