Lorenzo Musetti is expanding his team.

World No. 9 Musetti is adding a new coach with vast experience to join his lifelong coaching staff Simone Tartarini.

Musetti is in partnership with Jose Perlas as a trainer for the Italian news agency La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports. Perlas, who coached world No. 1 Carlos Moya and also worked with Guillermo Coria, Nicolas Almagro and Fabio Fognini, will join the team in December, Italian media reports, after the upcoming ATP Finals in Turin. Perlas also led the Spanish Davis Cup team to two championships.

Former world junior No. 1 Musetti trailed Felix Auger-Aliassime by 180 points for eighth and final place in the Race to Turin. Musetti is second in Athens this week and needs to win the Athens championship to secure his place in Turin.

Musetti is scheduled to face Swiss wild card Stan Wawrinka in a battle of spectacular one-handed backhands in his opener in Athens.
